Ketchikan Fishing Minute - Week of June 14, 2021

ASE Resorts is getting the 2021 season underway as we highlight the week's events and happenings at Clover Pass Resort, Silverking Lodge, and The Cedars Lodge for the week of June 14, 2021.

Welcome to the Ketchikan fishing minute for the week of June 14, 2021.

This week's episode is our 2021 season opener and we couldn't be more excited to be opening our doors and wetting some lines.

Now the vaccines are rolling out in covid case counts are coming down.

We're excited to get back to focusing on making sure you have a fantastic fishing experience with friends and family.

Lodge owner Kirk Thomas and his granddaughters took advantage of the opportunity to tag along with some of the charter skippers on their shakedown cruise to prepare for the season.

The outing focused mostly on putting a little time on the engines running all the gear and equipment and giving the captains an opportunity to see what was out there.

Everyone caught a few fish made a few memories and is happy to report the boats are ready for 2021 fishing.

Fishing for chinook opened in the mountain point terminal area on June 1st so we started to see a few kings across the dock last week.

North end chinook fishing just barely opened up around clover pass resort and silver king lodge on June 15th.

Eager fishermen were able to pick up a few after the opening because of the king closures.

Some of our early guests focused on bottom fishing and were successful in tracking down a few halibut and other bottom fish species.

Guests also focused on other non-fishing activities including flight seeing, zip lining, whale watching and hiking

Silver king lodge is hosting three family reunion groups during June this year.

Each of them taking advantage of competitive rates offered during our shoulder season that allowed them to enjoy the fantastic setting at the lodge for memorable family time.

Congrats to Claire and Kathy merrill and Dale and Chris merrill.

All are celebrating 50-year anniversaries with extended family this week out at silver king lodge.

If you're interested in considering the lodge for a large family event, contact us and let us help you plan an unforgettable experience.

As we make final preparations for guests it's exciting to see everything coming back to life, after a long winter.

The docks go back in the water, boats get launched, fishing gear pulled out of the attic and the facility cleaned and readied for guests.

It always gets us excited to see old friends, and look forward to the opportunity to make new ones.

As we do, we'll capture it all season long on the catch can fishing minute.
