Ketchikan, Alaska is only a 90 minute trip from Seattle, Washington by commercial jet.
Transportation

Air
In the summer, five non-stop, daily flights from Seattle to Ketchikan are available on Alaska Airlines. Even in the winter, there are three daily flights to Ketchikan. When you arrive in Ketchikan, you can get around with the help of floatplanes operated by numerous air-taxi services – providing access to places such as Misty Fjords National Monument.

Ferry
The Alaska Marine Highway System’s ferries are the primary means of transportation between the communities of Alaska’s Inside Passage since there is no land-based route. The system’s southernmost port is Bellingham, Washington. It also stops in Prince Rupert, British Columbia on its way to Ketchikan and other southeast Alaska panhandle cities. The ferries of the system include solariums, lounges, staterooms and cafeterias. The Alaska Marine Highway earned the title of All-American Road. It is the only “scenic byway” of its kind.

In 1997, the island communities of southern southeast Alaska formed the Inter-Island Ferry Authority (IFA) to improve transportation between the communities. In 2002, the IFA initiated daily ferry service between Hollis, located on Prince of Wales Island, and Ketchikan.

Bus
The Ketchikan Gateway Borough operates two bus routes. One runs south from Wal-Mart, at the north end of town, to Saxman. The other route runs through all of Ketchikan’s neighborhoods. It includes stops at the community college and recreation center.
